Description

At Nixon Peabody, our priority is to attract, retain, and promote talented individuals from a wide range of racial, ethnic, social, economic, religious, and personal backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations. Therefore, we encourage talented individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply.

Our Healthcare Practice Group is seeking to hire an associate to join our Los Angeles office. We will also consider remote applicants. This is an excellent opportunity to join Nixon Peabody’s national health care practice, which has received numerous national and regional rankings, including by Chambers USA, Legal 500, and U.S. News/Best Law Firms. California Bar admission is required.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of litigation experience to join our California-based healthcare litigation team. Nixon Peabody’s healthcare litigation team regularly represents healthcare companies in False Claims Act litigation, federal and state investigations, government enforcement actions, and other complex civil disputes. We seek candidates who appreciate the art of law and want to be part of a premier team representing clients across the health sector in high-stakes matters. This position also offers a unique opportunity for candidates to join a group that is experiencing tremendous growth. The ideal candidate is expected to work collaboratively with various members of Nixon Peabody’s Complex Disputes, Healthcare, and Government Investigations & White Collar Defense teams (both in California and nationwide) and will possess the following attributes:

·         Significant demonstratable litigation experience, including familiarity with federal and California process;

·         Exceptional writing skills (pleadings, briefs, declarations, memoranda) and excellent project/litigation/client management skills;

·         Excellent e-discovery skills, including proficiency with document and information management platforms and applications;

·         Experience representing health care entities and navigating complex healthcare regulatory environments, including general familiarity with federal and California healthcare fraud and abuse laws and other laws impacting reimbursement under governmental healthcare programs;

·         Willingness to take ownership of (and run with) assigned matters, projects, and tasks;

·         Clerkship and/or relevant federal or state agency experience preferred.

Qualified candidates will have strong academic credentials, superb judgment and communication skills, and a commitment to providing excellent client services.

With 80+ attorneys practicing health care law on the ground in 13 offices and managing health care issues for clients across the country, Nixon Peabody is at the heart of the health care industry. The firm’s health care practice works with more than 2,400 clients nationwide including hospitals and health systems, academic medical centers, accountable care organizations, private equity funds, long-term care facilities, IPAs and medical groups, and other types of providers.

In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position is as follows.

·         Los Angeles, CA: $210,000 to $315,000

In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications.  Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range is Nixon Peabody’s good faith estimate of the annual salary it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.

A career at Nixon Peabody is the opportunity to do work that matters. It’s a chance to use your knowledge to shape what’s ahead, to innovate, to learn at a firm that taps into the power of collaboration and collective thinking.
